We've established that multiple people can visit Ethel independently. We've mapped consistent geography, documented shared experiences, compared detailed dream reports. The evidence for a genuine shared persistent realm is compelling.
But there's a harder question: can two dreamers actually meet in Ethel?
Not just visit the same place separately. Actually encounter each other. See each other. Communicate.
The Experiment
I'm proposing a structured experiment to test shared dreaming. Here's how it will work:
Participants sign up in pairs. You can choose your own partner or I can match you with someone.
Each pair attempts to share dreams over a two-week period. You'll both try to enter a shared dreamspace - doesn't have to be Ethel, though that's an option.
Before each attempt, one partner privately sends me a specific piece of information - a word, an image, a symbol. This is what they'll try to transmit in the dream.
After each attempt, the receiving partner sends me their report. What did they perceive? Did they receive any specific information?
I compile results and look for correlations.
Why This Matters
If we can demonstrate information transmission through shared dreams - information that couldn't have been communicated any other way - that's extraordinary evidence. It rules out coincidence, confabulation, and shared archetypes.
Harlan and I have been running private experiments like this for months. Our success rate is high enough that I'm confident in the protocol. But two people isn't enough. We need replication.
Requirements
- Commit to two weeks of serious attempts
- Keep detailed dream journals
- Communicate honestly with me about results (including failures)
- Be willing to try multiple approaches if early attempts don't work
Sign up below with your chosen partner, or indicate that you'd like to be matched. I'll organize pairs by next week.
