Building on the time-in-Ethel discussion, I'm starting a thread to document specific festivals that can serve as temporal landmarks.
First up: the Festival of Molten Light.
Descriptions
Multiple dreamers have witnessed this festival independently. Here's what we know:
Visual phenomena:
- Colored lights appear in the nighttime sky
- They grow larger over time, becoming "bulbous" or "fruit-like"
- Eventually they detach from the sky and fall into the city
- They roll down rooftops, through streets, illuminating everything they touch
- Colors mentioned: red, gold, amber, green, blue-white
- They fade into wisps and disappear after touching things
Timing:
- Happens at night, after full dark
- Lasts several hours
- Associated with "the Year of Longing" (or possibly multiple named years?)
Atmosphere:
- Festive, celebratory
- Inhabitants gather in plazas and streets to watch
- Some kind of music or chanting
- Markets stay open late
Who Has Witnessed It
- dreamweaver_94 (detailed description in Somnia board)
- night_wanderer (mentioned in passing)
- Harlan_S (partial observation)
- Marcus_D (heard about it from inhabitants)
Using It as a Temporal Anchor
If multiple dreamers can focus on this specific festival while falling asleep, we might be able to arrive at the same temporal point. The distinctive visuals should help - easier to "aim for" than an abstract date.
I propose we try a coordinated arrival at the Festival of Molten Light. Volunteers?
