I need to bring up something that's been frustrating me.
Anastasia and I can share dreams. We've proven it over and over. We can find each other in dreamspace, communicate, transmit specific information. Our success rate is basically perfect.
But when we try to meet specifically in Ethel, it usually fails.
I mean, we both visit Ethel. We both go to the central plaza, or the shrine, or wherever we agreed to meet. We both have vivid, detailed experiences of the city. We both wake up and compare notes.
And we never saw each other. We were in the same place, but not at the same time.
How is this possible? If we can share dreams reliably, why can't we share dreams in Ethel?
My Hypotheses
We're not really in the same Ethel. Maybe each of us is visiting our own version, a private copy that looks like the real thing but isn't truly shared. But this doesn't feel right - Ethel has always felt more solid than other dreams.
The city is too big. Maybe we're both there but just missing each other, like two people in a large crowd. But we agree on specific meeting points and still don't connect.
Ethel disrupts synchronization. Maybe there's something about the city's stability that interferes with dream-sharing. But why would stability make sharing harder?
Time is different. This is the weird one. What if we're both visiting the same Ethel, but at different... times? Not different times on Earth - different times within Ethel. Like the city has its own timeline and we're landing at random points along it.
I don't know how to test #4, but it's the only explanation that makes sense of all the data.
Has anyone else noticed this? Successful dream-sharing pairs who can't quite connect in Ethel specifically?
