I've acquired a space in Providence for dedicated dream research.

The building is a former textile mill in Olneyville - three stories, large windows, high ceilings. It needs work, but it has room for sleeping quarters, a common area, workspace for art and research, and more space than we'll know what to do with.

I'm inviting the core research team to move in on a trial basis.

The Goal

We've established that synchronization improves shared dreaming. Anastasia's research shows that pairs who know each other deeply - who've spent intensive time together - have dramatically better results than strangers.

The implication is clear: if we want to achieve reliable group exploration of Ethel, we need to deepen our synchronization. And that means living together.

Not forever. A trial period. Three months minimum. We'll document everything, run experiments, see if sustained physical proximity makes the difference we theorize it will.

Practical Details

  • No rent. I own the building outright.
  • Shared meals, shared space, shared purpose
  • Everyone maintains their own sleeping space / "dwelling"
  • Common area for research, discussion, synchronization exercises
  • Minimum commitment: 3 months
  • Start date: August 15th

Who's Invited

The core group: Harlan, Anastasia, Noel, Charlotte, Martin, Lily, and myself. That's seven of us - the same seven who met at the Festival of the Living Sea.

Charlotte, I know you're in school - we can work around your schedule. Everyone else, this is the time to decide if you're serious about this research.

Why Now

We've hit a wall. Forum discussions and IRC chats build some synchronization, but not enough. We can share dreams in pairs but struggle to coordinate larger groups. The festival meeting was extraordinary, but we haven't been able to replicate it.

If we want to go further - to truly explore Ethel together, to understand what we've found - we need to commit. This is my commitment.

Let me know if you're in.

I'm in. Of course I'm in. This is what I've been waiting for.

This is a significant undertaking. I have concerns about controlled research methodology - living together introduces variables we can't isolate.

But I also know we've reached the limits of what remote collaboration can achieve. I'm in.

I need to think about this. I have clients, commitments. Moving to Providence isn't something I can do lightly.

I understand. Take your time. But know that there's space for you whenever you're ready.

Lily and I discussed it last night. We're both in. We can be there by August 15th.

I can't move permanently - not with my program. But I can be there for extended visits. Weekends, breaks, the whole summer next year. Would that work?

Absolutely. We'll have guest space. You're part of this whether you live there full-time or not.

Martin spoke for both of us but I want to add: this feels right. Like we've been waiting for something like this without knowing what we were waiting for.

I found a way to make it work. Most of my clients are remote anyway. I can consult from Providence as easily as Boston.

I'm in.

That's all seven of us. This is really happening.
